- Pastry Chefs, Banqueting Chefs, and Private Chefs
- Flexible and adaptable candidates ready for temp or permanent roles
Step 2: Initial Screening
Phone Interview
Once we receive your application, our recruitment team will review it and reach out to schedule a brief phone interview. This is our chance to learn more about you, your career goals, and your availability. We’ll also answer any questions you may have about working with Chef Staffing Solutions.
What to Expect:
- Discussion about your previous experience
- Your preferred locations and types of assignments
- Availability for shifts (temp, temp-to-perm, or permanent roles)
Step 3: Compliance Checks
Document Verification
To ensure the highest standards of compliance, we will request the following documents:
- Proof of Right to Work in the UK (e.g., passport, visa, or settled status documentation)
- Food Safety & Hygiene Certificates (Level 2 or higher preferred)
- Professional References from previous employers
- Proof of Address (utility bill or bank statement)
- DBS Check (if required for roles in care homes, schools, or other sensitive environments)
Our team will guide you through the compliance checks, ensuring everything is in order before you start your first assignment.
Step 4: Skills Assessment & Registration
Culinary Skills Assessment
To match you with the right clients, we may invite you to attend a skills assessment session. This may involve a cooking trial or a discussion of your culinary expertise, particularly if you’re applying for senior chef roles. The goal is to understand your strengths, specialities, and preferred kitchen environment.
Registration & Profile Setup
Once compliance checks are complete, you’ll be officially registered in our system. We’ll set up your candidate profile with all your key details, making it easier for us to match you with suitable roles quickly.
Step 5: Induction & Onboarding Pack
Online Induction
All new chefs will receive access to our online induction program, which covers:
- Chef Staffing Solutions policies and procedures
- Health & safety guidelines
- Role-specific expectations
- Tips for a successful first shift
Onboarding Pack
You’ll also receive a digital Onboarding Pack, which includes:
- Your personal consultant’s contact details
- Guidance on timesheet submission
- Information on client expectations and working hours
- FAQs to help you get started confidently
Step 6: Assignment Confirmation
Role Matching & Confirmation
Once you’re fully onboarded, we’ll start matching you with available roles that align with your skills and preferences. You’ll receive notifications of suitable assignments via phone or email. For each confirmed shift, we’ll provide:
- Job details (location, shift timings, dress code, etc.)
- Client expectations (specific menu items, dietary requirements, etc.)
- Travel and accommodation (if applicable for longer-term assignments)
Step 7: Your First Shift
Ongoing Support
On your first day, our team will check in to ensure everything goes smoothly. You’ll have access to our support team for any assistance you need while on assignment. We’re here to help you succeed and enjoy your time with Chef Staffing Solutions.
Feedback & Reviews
We value your feedback. After your first few shifts, we’ll ask for your thoughts on the assignment and how we can improve your experience. Likewise, we gather feedback from our clients to help you grow and refine your skills.
